Alexie Glass-Kantor

Alexie Glass-Kantor is Executive Director of Artspace, Sydney and Curator, Encounters, Art Basel | Hong Kong (2015-2017). In her capacity as the director of Artspace, Glass-Kantor is committed to supporting the commissioning of contemporary art, publishing initiatives, education, and research residencies for artists and curators. At Art Basel Hong Kong Glass-Kantor curates the large-scale installations and for this sector she has presented works by artists including Lawrence Weiner, Pae White, Eko Nugroho, Brook Andrew, Sterling Ruby, Isa Genzken, Cao Fei, Nathalie Djurberg and Hans Berg.
Since 1999 she has curated over one hundred exhibitions in independent spaces, kunsthalles, museums, biennials and festivals, collaborating with international artists across generations to develop projects throughout the Asia-Pacific, Europe and North America. Prior to her appointment to Artspace she was Director–Senior Curator, Gertrude Contemporary, Melbourne and a Curator at the Australian Centre for the Moving Image. Glass-Kantor regularly contributes to international catalogs, symposia and journals; she is the Chair of the Contemporary Art Organisations of Australia and on the Academic Board of the National Art School.
