Alvin Cheung

Alvin Cheung is the co-founder of Celadon Mafia Japan, a studio dedicated to supporting contemporary, city-based craft from Asia and Japan. He is currently focused on introducing Mezzanine Makers, a Hong Kong-based craft tonic brand, to the Japanese market.

His work explores the intersection of urbanism, design, and community, with a particular focus on how cities shape creative output. He has led discussions on these themes, including a panel on “Tokyo Style Third Spaces”, which examines innovative urban models and their global relevance.

Previously, Alvin founded Tokyo Keyboard, a “Made in Tokyo” electronics brand redefining hardware and craftsmanship through local manufacturing. He is also the founder of ABC Coffee Club, Japan’s first online coffee subscription service.

With an MBA in Design Strategy from the California College of the Arts in San Francisco, Alvin has a background in product design and innovation consulting in Silicon Valley. He relocated to Japan to join the founding team of TEDxTokyo and later established a social innovation consultancy. His past clients include Microsoft, Google, Bayer, Suntory, and Nissan.

Alvin has been a featured speaker at PechaKucha Tokyo and has appeared in Wired Japan and The Japan Times, sharing insights on design, craft, and emerging urban trends.
